Atlanta Pagan Pride

Saturday, October 9th, Atlanta area Pagans gathered for Pagan Pride. The event was held at the Quaker Meeting House in Decatur and ran all day.

I was extremely impressed at how well-organized the event was thanks to the combined efforts of many community members including Lord Luminias, Lady Arden, Vianna,  and Onix. The main ritual was conducted by Lady Arsinoe. The event booklet was created by Lady Rune. Also, North Georgia Solitaries assisted with volunteers and I have been told their contribution was invaluable.  The organizers mentioned to me issues with the food vendor and they are working to correct those issues for next year’s event.

I arrived around noon and the event had been in full swing since 9am.  Vendors, local organizations and performers were all set up around the church available for conversation or to sell their products.  Just as you walked in the front door, I was impressed by the House Of Ravenwood’s table where they had with them the original wooden sign from the house opened by Lady Sintana in the 70s.  It was a lovely tribute celebrating the life of an important figure in our community so soon after her passing.

Other organizations in attendance included the ADF Grove of the Red Earth, House of Ravenstone, the Georgia State Pagan Student Alliance, Oakspring, and the Pagan Marketplace of Ideas.

Vendors including Simple Strands in Cumming, area psychic fair regular Hannah-Fey, and others were spread throughout the venue inside and out.

Emerald Rose brought their singular brand of Pagan Rock to the afternoon.  They played all the best dancing songs like “Pagan Girl”, “Four Jacks”, “Lord of the Dance”, and more.  Other fantastic performances included Spiral Rhythm and the Cross Cultural Dance Company.

The official numbers for the event were around 890 people in attendance collecting 1315 pounds of food for the food bank.
