North Georgia Solitaires Samhain Celebration October 29th

North Georgia Solitaries, a family oriented church of solitary practitioners based out of the North Atlanta area, will have their Samhain celebration on October 29th at the Pioneer Campground at Red Top Mountain State Park in Cartersville, Georgia.

Festivities will begin at 3pm and will include pumpkin carving, a trick-or-treat walk for the children with spooky candy dispensing stops along the way, and a ritual followed by a pot luck dinner.

The ritual is open to all participants, including children and non-pagans, and one does not have to be a member of NGS to participate. NGS asks that all who intend to participate in ritual bring their chalice for our cakes and ale because NGS encourages individual spirituality and does not pass around one chalice for the group to share.

The evening’s festivities will culminate with a drum circle around the fire which will be kicked off with a chanting workshop, so feel free to bring any drums, instruments or noise makers.

Since it is a primitive campsite, seating is limited so bring your camping or outdoor chairs as well as a jacket or cloak for when the sun goes down. Other things to bring include food for the potluck feast, your own drinks (or you can purchase water, soda or juice from the Pagan Assistance Fund) and a pumpkin for carving and decorating.

Please feel free to wear a costume and dress up your children. Also, remember to bring a candy collecting bucket or basket for your kids if they want to participate in the trick-or-treat walk.

The celebration will last all day and probably into the night, and NGS is asking $10 for adults, $5 for teens (13-17) and $2 for children 12 and under. Register before October 20th on the NGS website, and enter the coupon code “news” to receive 20% off an adult paid ticket.

Also, start planning for Yule and include the Pagan Pathways Yule Party in your plans. NGS puts on the Pagan Pathways Festival as a fundraiser for the Pagan Assistance Fund and is throwing a Yule party this year. There will be a Holly King to tell stories and give gifts to the children and a gift exchange game for the adults. Check out the Yule Party webpage for more details.

Hecate Circle Rescheduled

Saturday, September 11, 2010 6:00 pm

The Hecate Circle to honor the deities of magic will be held in Morrow following the workshop Spell Singing: The Use of Voice in Ritual and magic. Many deity manifestations are patrons of magic. They appear in different mythologies around the globe. The deities that will be honored in the ritual are Hecate, the Greek Patroness of wives and Witches, and Odin, Norse father God and Giver of the Runes. As a part of the ritual a Cone of Power will be raised in honor of the God and Goddess using song and dance. The ritual will begin at 6:00 pm at the Morrow Homestead.

If you will not be able to attend the Spell Singing Workshop, but will be able to come to the ritual, be sure to sign up in the database for the ritual.

For further information, contacts, directions, etc., please email groveofdraconis@yahoo.com

The Grove of Draconis is located in Morrow, GA, on the south side of Atlanta. It was founded in October 2009 and is an open adult group of Pagan Solitary Witches. It represents multiple traditions and degrees (including but not limited to) Eclectic, Wicca, Norse, Faery, Ceremonial and High magic. They enjoy practicing with other Pagan groups in the community and learning from each other.

The Grove says its mission is to assist those new to Paganism through education and guidance, as needed, in choosing the Tradition meant for the seeker; as well as encouraging advancement for those seeking a deeper meaning in their spiritual life, treating each one’s path with the respect and grace each deserves.

All traditions and Pagan friendly significant others and family members are welcome to join at any time. The Grove of Draconis was a sponsor of this year’s Pagan Pathways Festival 2010 and is a sponsor of The Pagan Assistance Fund
